We are all used to having WiFi and Mobile data icons in the Android quick settings menu (the one that opens when you swipe down the notification bar). However, one of the novelties of Android 12 was merge these two icons into one internet icon. In such a way that now, to activate / deactivate these connectivities, you must make an extra touch.
Don’t you like this Android 12 change? Luckily, to return to the icons from before, it is not necessary to downgrade from Android 12 to Android 11. It is possible to restore WiFi and Mobile data icons separately in Android 12. You will need to use ADB, but with the steps that we will show you below you will have no complications in bringing these icons back.
How to see separate WiFi + Mobile Data icons in Android 12
If you have never heard of ADB and you don’t know what this is about, we recommend that you first take a look at this guide to use ADB from any platform. Follow the steps shown in that guide (only those corresponding to your PC) and once you have connected your mobile to the PC, verifying with “ADB devices” in the command window that everything has gone well, you can now follow this tutorial.
To reset WiFi and Cellular data icons on Android 12, just do the following:
- After installing and configuring ADB, connect your mobile to PC.
- Open the command window of your PC pointing to the ADB folder.
- Enter the following commands in that window:
- settings put global settings_provider_model false settings put secure
- sysui_qs_tiles “wifi,cell,$(settings get secure sysui_qs_tiles)”
If you have done everything correctly, the WiFi and Mobile Data icons should now appear separately in the Android 12 quick settings menu. And from the settings of this menu (it opens by touching the pencil button) you can hide the internet icon. And it is that this icon is not removed after following the steps above.
In fact, what these commands do is go back to a previous version called Internet Connectivity, which shows the options for WiFi, Mobile data and Airplane mode. If you want back to internet single icon and delete the WiFi and Mobile Data icons, you just have to enter these two commands in ADB:
- settings put global settings_provider_model true
- settings put secure sysui_qs_tiles “internet,$(settings get secure sysui_qs_tiles)”
By the way, all of these commands work with the latest Android 12 update for Pixels. Anyway, we hope this trick has worked for you.
