For a long time the tablet segment was overshadowed by iPads. Fortunately, in recent years Android tablets have been revitalized, with Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi, among a few others, as the main representatives.

As you may have seen in the technical sheet, the Galaxy Tab S8, S8 + and S8 Ultra are large teams that point to the high end. All 3 models have the new Qualcomm chip, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, so you can be confident that the performance in each case will be exceptional.

What’s more, these tablets include an S-pen with Bluetooth connection, an accessory that many users will take into account. Regarding the design, they are not only elegant tablets, but resistant. Or at least that’s what we might expect thanks to its extra-tough aluminum body, which Samsung claims makes it 30% more scratch-resistant and 40% stiffer, compared to the Galaxy Tab S7.

And if you want to use these tablets for office or design tasks, the included keyboard will suit you very well. Together, they are very well-worked teams. However, Will they be up to their main competition?

Are the Galaxy Tab S8, S8+ and S8 Ultra rivals of the iPad?

When we talk about tablets, it is inevitable to want to think about iPads, especially with the most recent generation of these, the one in which the M1 chip is present. But not all tablets can stand up to an iPad (truth be told), and Samsung’s Galaxy Tab series is one of the few that does meet these standards.

Of course, if we want to compare the Galaxy Tab S8 series with the iPad we will immediately think of the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra, the model with the most ambitious specifications. This tablet points to a segment that goes beyond entertainment and, on the contrary, wants to be more productive.

Now, to know if the Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is better than the iPad, we must consider a couple of details:

  • software maturity: At this point Android and iOS seem to be very similar, both are OS developed for mobile devices that only since last year have been evolving to offer an experience more similar to that of a PC.
  • The power: depending on the type of user you are, this point can be decisive. If you need to use very demanding applications, the iPad can offer you better performance.

But… despite what we have said so far you must remember that the software of these tablets has not matured enough to make the most of the computing power of their processors, especially when multitasking. However, this could also change in a very short time.

In fact, Qualcomm announced that this year it will develop a new line of ARM Socs focused on computers and why not? Also on tablets. If so, it will most likely help balance the balance between iPads and Android tablets.
